25 Days of Jays: No. 10 Davion Mintz

Creighton's Davion Mintz showed flashes of his potential toward the end of his sophomore season, averaging 9.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists his final five games.

The World-Herald is counting down the 25 must-see athletes across all Creighton sports to help usher in CU's 2018-19 athletic season, which kicks off Aug. 19.

Davion Mintz

Men's basketball • Junior point guard

He’ll have his hands on the wheel of Creighton’s high-octane offense. The point guard runs the show. So Mintz has spent the offseason preparing for that increased responsibility. He showed flashes of his potential toward the end of his sophomore season, averaging 9.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists his final five games.

The spotlight brightens this year, though. He’ll have logged the most in-game experience of any Bluejay on the roster — not counting incoming graduate transfer Connor Cashaw. If the 6-foot-3 guard from Charlotte, North Carolina, is going to have a breakout season, now is his chance.
