The Churchyard Harvest Festival Saturday afternoon, September 21, celebrates the first harvest of the Churchyard Community Garden on the grounds of Omaha’s oldest Catholic church building, the Holy Family Church, at 17th and Izard streets.
The event will feature live music, featuring the rising young star, Jocelyn. Food trucks will line Izard street and in the garden New Americans will offer produce for sale. In the church itself, the national arts organization In[HEIR]itance Project will present a play rewriting the Book of Exodus devised by resettled refugees.
The festival offers the opportunity for artists and craftspeople to take their art outside to show and sell in blossoming North Downtown Omaha. All welcome, with a special invitation to nearby residents and students and to New Americans. No charge.
