UNO's Blais gets three-year extension

The contract of UNO hockey coach Dean Blais was extended by three years, through the 2017-18 season, it was announced Friday.

Blais, whose contract had been set to expire after the 2014-15 season, is 91-86-18 in five years with the Mavericks, guiding UNO to two 20-win seasons and an appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2011. During that season, he was named the WCHA’s coach of the year after coaching the Mavs to a third-place finish in their first year in the league after being picked to finish eighth in the preseason polls.
