Kenny Perry already was expected to be a late arrival to the U.S. Senior Open. Now this weekend just got pleasantly longer for the 52-year-old. He’s in contention at the Greenbrier Classic on the PGA Tour.

Perry, who won the Senior Players Championship last week for his first major of any kind, is tied for 17th at 5 under, four strokes behind 36-hole leader Matt Every, at the White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., resort course. Perry shot 67 Friday after an opening 68.
