Lead tests show athletic fields in Plattsmouth's Rhylander Park safe for summer play
High school cross country runners use Rhylander Park in this September 2011 photo. Soil samples from the park indicate only a small portion of the multi-use recreation area was found to have elevated levels of lead. The affected area is east of the softball fields and has a dirt path that leads to a residential area.

Elevated lead levels were not found in the ballfields, soccer fields or picnic or playground areas, according to testing performed by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality.
