CWS starts one day early, but games will be later
Swimming forced baseball fans to alter their schedules while attending this year’s College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park. Soccer will do the same. Much was made back in 2009 of the change in CWS dates necessary to reduce conflict with the 2012 U.S. Olympic swimming trials, which begin June 25 at CenturyLink Center. The CWS will begin Friday, June 15, a day earlier than usual.

Council OKs CWS pedicab deal
A united City Council gave unanimous approval Tuesday to a measure that will regulate pedicab operations around the College World Series. The vote brought to conclusion a controversy sparked after city officials sought to ban the strange-looking bicycles and other vehicles from ferrying passengers around TD Ameritrade Park during the baseball tournament.

Some new twists for College Home Run Derby
College baseball's top sluggers will compete in the annual TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby on July 3, followed by the 28th annual Omaha World-Herald fireworks show.

Little fanfare at CWS pedicab hearing
There was little fanfare at a public hearing before the Omaha City Council on a proposed rules to control pedicabs around the College World Series. That's largely because the parties involved in negotiations to avoid a full ban of the human-powered cabs are happy with the regulations now awaiting council approval.

'Blatt' restaurant will sit next to TD Ameritrade Park
Baseball fans on the road to Omaha this summer can look forward to eating at a new restaurant just a block from TD Ameritrade Park. Blatt Beer and Table — named after Omaha's beloved Rosenblatt Stadium — will serve continental pub fare, said Megan Longo, spokesperson for the Flagship Restaurant group, who also runs Blue Sushi and Roja locations around Omaha.

CWS tickets go on sale Saturday
The sale of general admission tickets for the 2012 College World Series will begin Saturday. The tickets, which cost $80 per book of 10 tickets, are available through NCAA.com/CWS, at area Hy-Vee customer service counters and at the CenturyLink Center Omaha box office.
