Ralston High School juniors Peyton Skiles, Kaitlyn Rose Sycuro and Anna Flairty were selected as the representatives for 2014 Girl State.

Each year, more than 400 girls from throughout Nebraska are offered the opportunity to become active participants in structured role-playing that emphasizes the United States’ democratic form of government.

Cornhusker Girls State, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, will be held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from June 1 throug 7. The girls will have the opportunity to gather with girls from across Nebraska to discuss current issues and governmental structure.

“The Auxiliary feels that these young ladies will represent us well in Lincoln,” said Pam Sevick, president of the Post 373 Auxiliary.
