July 1

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Independence City Quilters and Friends, Ralston Baright Public Library, 5555 S. 77th St.

July 2

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Independence City Quilters and Friends, Ralston Baright Public Library, 5555 S. 77th St.

July 3

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Independence City Quilters and Friends, Ralston Baright Public Library, 5555 S. 77th St.

4 to 6:30 p.m.: Frank and Velma Johnson Ralston Archives Museum open.

5 p.m.: Patriotic Music Program presented by LaDonna Johnson and her music students.

5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Picnic in the Park, Pie Baking Contest, Pie and Ice Cream Social, live music by Joey Gulizia and Island Music; Ralston Park, 80th and Park Drive. Food and beverage will be available for purchase: barbecue pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, coleslaw and beans.

7 to 11 p.m.: Family street dance, 77th and Main streets with Gordie Zealand Music.

8 to 10 p.m.: Square dance at 76th and Main streets

July 4

7:50 a.m.: Independence Day Fun Run/Walk starts at 77th and Main streets.

9 a.m.: Raffle tickets on sale at Ralston Area Chamber office, 5505 Miller Ave.

10 a.m. to noon: Independence City Quilters and Friends, Ralston Baright Public Library, 5555 S. 77th St.

10 a.m.: Children’s Parade, for children entering sixth grade and under. Lineup begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Ralston Chamber office, 5505 Miller Ave.

11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Music in Independence Square by The G Notes, 77th and Main streets.

Noon to 4 p.m.: Chicken dinner at the Ralston American Legion Post 373, 74th and Q streets.

1 p.m.: 53rd annual Independence Day Parade starts at 80th and Highland streets, ending at 75th and Main streets.

3 p.m.: Ralston Volunteer Fire Department Waterfights, 77th and Main streets.

9:30 p.m.: Ralston Fireworks Spectacular, synchronized to music over FM radio, KAT 103.7.

July 5

1 p.m.: Raffle drawing at Ralston Area Chamber office, 5505 Miller Ave. Need not be present to win.
