Longtime Ralston residentLee Fideline was given unanimous approval as the appointment to Ward 2's City Council seat at Tuesday evening’s Ralston City Council meeting.
The Ward 2 seat was vacated by Mike Gillespie after Gillespie moved to Idaho earlier this month.
Fideline will serve until November 2014, at which point a general election will be held for the seat, per state law requiring appointed seats to stand for election in the next general election.. The winner of that election will stand for re-election in November 2016 to put the Council election cycles back on balance.
Fideline, 72,was one of three applicants to the position, and was Mayor Don Groesser's choice for the appointment.
He has served on the Ralston Planning Commission since 1990 and has also served on the city's Board of Adjustments and Beautification Committee. He is also a retired Ralston Volunteer Fire Department member and serves on the RVFD Honor Guard.
