Sumtur Amphitheater is bringing back its popular Starlight Movie Series for a seventh year.

The series, which has been very successful, sees large audiences each year and is Sumtur’s most popular, said Doug Huggins, Sumtur Amphitheater manager.

The majority of this year’s movies are family friendly, especially the ones playing while children are on summer vacation.

“We’re looking at the popular movies that are basically last year’s and this year’s that are available,” Huggins said. “We’re trying to stay current and stay popular.”

The schedule is:

• May 23 — Frozen

• June 6 — Monsters University

• June 20 — Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2

• July 25 — Muppets Most Wanted

• Aug. 8 — Despicable Me 2

• Aug. 15 — The Lego Movie

Officials have also added two more movies to the schedule.

On Aug. 22, Sumtur will be alive with The Sound of Music. Attendees will be encouraged to attend and sing along, Huggins said.

On Sept. 20, The Rocky Horror Picture Show will play for an audience over age 17.

All movies are free. Gates will open at 7:30 p.m. with pre-show entertainment prior to the movie. Movies will start at dusk.

“More than anything else, it’s good for families, but it’s good for the community,” Huggins said. “The City of Papillion and the Recreation Department are interested in bringing the community together and providing a good service for the community,” Huggins said. “It’s a lovely outdoor environment.”
