Wendy Richey resigned as the Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce’s president last week.
Richey said she resigned after a family matter arose requiring her immediate attention.
The chamber announced Richey’s resignation on the morning of Oct. 14.
“The chamber is very strong and is in very good hands,” Richey said. “I encourage the support of both the chamber and the board.”
Richey said she brought a new energy to the chamber, in addition to community collaboration.
Some programs implemented under Richey’s two years as president include the development of the Young Professionals, a technology committee and the Ambassador program. She also collaborated with other area chambers of commerce.
“I was able to kind of cross those bridges and really collaborate on things,” she said.
She formed a joint government affairs committee with the Bellevue and Gretna chambers. The committee worked together to be stronger in regards to legislative items, Richey said.
“I think the current board and current staff will succeed even past what I did,” Richey said.
