Jennifer Kreifels, a Republican, is seeking her second term on the Springfield Platteview Community Schools Board of Education.

Kreifels said she initially ran for the board because she wanted to be more involved in the district’s future.

“I wanted to make sure my kids got the best education available to them,” she said in an email.

Kreifels said she wants to continue to serve because she wants to continue to be part of where the district is going. If re-elected, she wants to make sure the district stays on the path it is currently on.

“I feel like our district is headed in the right direction and creating amazing opportunities for students,” she said.

One of those opportunities is the district’s one-to-one iPad initiative. Kreifels said that project is one of the things she is most proud of from her work so far. She said she was also proud of how far the district has come toward passing a bond to improve the schools and of the board’s choice to hire Superintendent Brett Richards.

“I believe when we were asked to hire a new superintendent, we found someone who has taken the reins and lead us down a path toward success,” she said.
