Just Relax started out at the Offutt Field House in 1993.

Owner Laurie Kuiken and her husband moved the massage business to Papillion in 2001 because they needed more room.

After retiring from the Air Force, Rick Kuiken suffered from chronic lower back pain, his wife Laurie Kuiken said.

“Massage helped him more than anything,” she said. “It was the answer and he got interested and wanted to learn it.”

Rick Kuiken attended massage school and eventually became an instructor at the Omaha School of Massage Therapy, where he taught for eight years with his wife as his assistant.

The Papillion business at 1209 Golden Gate Drive celebrates its 20th anniversary in July. In order to thank their local customers, Laurie Kuiken said the business will hold an open house on July 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. Several drawings will be held and free chair massages along with snacks and beverages will be available.

The business provides numerous massages including the Swedish, Thai and cupping techniques as well as hot stone, prenatal and couples sessions. Just Relax also provides facials and body wraps.

Kathi Gentlzer, a massage therapist for the company, said services provide joint mobility and promote relaxation, stress relief, healing, balance and increased endorphins and circulation.

Laurie Kuiken said repeat clients spread word of mouth, which brings new faces to the store.

The business has nine therapists who share a total more than 100 years of experience. They share the same philosophy, which is to treat massage therapy as a wellness activity that everyone can benefit from.

Customers receive 60 minutes of hands on time, which is tailored to their specific needs. Therapists will sit down with a client after a session and discuss massage techniques and the next step for any future visits.

“We love what we do, and that shows how much we care about our clients and wellbeing,” Laurie Kuiken said.
