After a cold spell wiped out most games last week, the weather broke for a great day of baseball Saturday.
However, the River Cities Conference tournament couldn’t be salvaged after not being able to get games in on Thursday or Friday.
There’s a full schedule of games set for this week and it looks like the weather is going to be more spring-like in the upcoming weeks.
Here are the games that were played last week:
Gretna 9, Wahoo 3 - The Dragons sent five runs across home plate in the second inning to take a 5-2 lead and control of the game.
From there, Zach Howell cruised to the win. The senior pitched five innings, striking out eight, for the win.
John Roll drove in two runs with a home run and a double to lead Gretna. Eric Soe, Trent Jeary and Logan Ellis each added two hits.
Omaha Central 9, Gretna 3 - The Eagles put up six runs in the bottom of the fifth to push their lead to 9-0. Gretna scored twice in the sixth and once in the seventh. Jeary knocked two hits, including a double, and drove in a run to pace the Dragons. Howell and Roll each drove in a run.
Concordia 8, Platteview 7 - With Concordia leading 5-1 in the sixth, the Trojans scored six times to overtake the lead at 7-5. Concordia went scoreless in the bottom of the sixth but scored three times in the seventh for the walk-off win.
Luke Polenz led the Trojans with three hits, two of them doubles, and two RBIs. Andrew Vincent, Tommy Dalton, Ethen Steinhoff and Ryan Shipley each drove in a run.
Seward 11, Platteview 1 - The Bluejays were already up 6-0 when the Trojans scored their first run in the sixth. Seward added five in the seventh.
Dalton drove in Platteview’s only run and had two hits.
P-LV South 13, Omaha South 0 - The Titans scored five in the first and four in the second on their way to the easy win. Ben Palensky and Grant Suponchick each knocked two doubles in the win. Aaron Pena added a double and a triple.
Palensky picked up the win on the hill.
Westside 2, P-LV South 0 - The Titans were held to just two three hits in the loss to the Class A No. 2 Warriors.
Jacob Burrus pitched well in the loss.
P-LV South 12, Bellevue East 2 - Palensky notched his second win of the week on the hill and three hits for Papio South, who scored in each of the five innings played.
Pena drove in three runs on two hits and Jake Cockle added a two-run home run for the Titans.
Mike McCourt blasted a home run for the Chieftains.
Westside 16, Bellevue East 0 - Six runs in the first inning sent Westside on the way to the easy win. The No. 2 Warriors held East without a hit in the five-inning game.
Bellevue East 5, Nebraska City 2 - A three-run second inning set up the Chieftains for the win.
Tommy Walther led the offense by driving in three runs on two hits. Chris Cornish knocked three hits and also recorded the win on the mound.
Jason Fossum picked up the save.
Bellevue West 20, Benson 0 - Brenden Madsen, Steven Wilkie and Christian Hatterle combined for the five-inning no-hitter over the Bunnies.
Mike Gilbert and Jack Wallingford both knocked two hits to lead the offense with Gilbert adding three RBIs. Colton Sidener and Brenan Cascio added two RBIs apiece.
Bellevue West 14, Omaha Northwest 7 - The T-birds scored six in the second and five in the fourth to get a comfortable lead over the Huskies.
Sidener drove in three runs to lead the West offense. Mitch Savine, Sidener and Cole Patterson all knocked two hits apiece. Christian Dumont notched the win for West with five strikeouts.
Lincoln Northeast 8, Bellevue West 5 - The T-birds couldn’t overcome a 3-0 first inning deficit against the Rockets. Patterson drilled a home run in the loss.
Millard South 7, Ralston 3 - The Patriots scored the deciding four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the win.
Jeff Thompson recorded two hits to lead the Rams offense. John Fletcher added a double.
Westside 15, Ralston 0 - The Rams only mounted one hit in the loss to the No. 2 Warriors.
Gross 6, Papillion-La Vista 1 - The Cougars scored five runs in the fifth to push their lead to 6-0. The Monarchs added a run in the seventh to end the scoring.
Trevor Nollett earned the win for the Cougars with a complete-game effort.
Patrick Mruz led the Gross offense with two hits, one a two-bagger.
Grant Van Scoy and Reid Matthias each hit doubles for Papio.
Millard West 4, Papillion-La Vista 1 - Sean Van Briesen knocked two of Papillion-La Vista’s four hits in the game. Dallas Armstrong and Van Scoy added the other two hits with Armstrong driving in the only run against the Class A No. 1 Wildcats.
Papillion-La Vista 10, Lincoln Southwest 0 - The Monarchs ended the first game of the double-header with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Garrett Graveline and Van Scoy each had a pair of hits and two RBIs. Van Briesen knocked two hits and drove in three runs. Nick Wodekemper picked up the win with five innings of shutout baseball.
Lincoln Southwest 7, Papillion-La Vista 3 - The Silverhawks took a 5-1 lead after three innings and rode the early offense to the win.
Jack Kalina knocked a home run for Papio with Armstrong and Graveline each adding an RBI.
