Rams crown two champs at McGrath

Ralston had two individual champions on its way to a fourth place finish at Friday's Jim McGrath Invite at Ralston.

Grant Svagera and JC Reid took top honors as the Rams finished with 89.5 points in the eight-team meet. Bryan followed in fifth and Gross was seventh while Millard South dominated the action, winning by 117 points over runner-up Fremont.

Reid secured his second title of the season at 126 pounds, ending his day with a pin of Millard South's Chad Davison in just one minute, 20 seconds into the title match.

Svagera topped Millard South's Austin Coufal 5-2 in the 113 finals for his first title of the season.

Jesus Gonzalez was a runner-up for the Rams at 120, as was Jacob Gigax at 285. McKoy Fink (106) and Brandon Cswercko (170) each finished fourth.

Gross' Dominic Swertzic wrapped up the 132 title with a 6-2 decision over Millard South's Nick Jeannette in the finals. Teammate Nathan Tietler placed third at 138.

Bryan had eight medalists on the day, sparked by a runner-up finish from Tyler Nielsen at 152.

Ryan McCann (113) and Chad Miller (152) each placed third while Zach Gates (182); Devin Lovings (220); Brandon Shanahan (132); Leandro Ramirez (138) and Lenzel-Hayes Brown all finished fourth.

Bellevue West finished third as a team and crowned two individual champions during Saturday's Auburn Invite. West racked up 138.5 points in the eight team meet, finishing behind Norris and Abe Lincoln.

Jake Garner improved to 13-1 on the season with his title at 145, ending his day with a 6-2 win over Morgen Valentine of Falls City in the finals.

Anthony Tucci pinned all of his foes to grab the 126 crown, stopping Auburn's Brandin Clarke at the 4:55 mark of the title bout.

Colten McCauley was a runner-up at 152, as were teammates Jack Glover (160) and John David Cottrell (170). Nigel Moss was third at 182, as was Jonathan Carle at 138. Zachary Carle finished fourth at 132.

Platteview grabbed a fifth place finish at its own Platteview Invite Friday evening.

The Trojans finished with 90 points as Beatrice rolled to the team crown with 192.5 points.

Platteview had eight wrestlers bring home top four finishes on the day, led by third-place finishes from Trevor Craft (170); Caleb May (220) and Gage Jeffers (126). Fourth-place showings came via Garret Long (106); Kyle Madden (113); Reed Augusta (120); Davy Jones (145) and Chris Eads (195).
