Ralston/Gross boys dominate field at River Cities Meet

The Ralston/Gross boys gave a dominate performance in the River Cities Conference Meet over the weekend to win the conference title.

The boys racked up 428 team points to beat second-place Skutt/Elkhorn Mount Michael’s 235 points Saturday at the Ralston pool.

“The men’s team set a couple of meet and pool records and got a couple more state cuts,” Ralston/Gross coach Docker Hartfield said.

The Ralston/Gross girls finished in second just 19 points behind winning Duchesne.

“It was a complete effort by our girls and we have positioned ourselves to make a run at next year,”Hartfield said.

Garrett Cadotte added two more solo victories to his impressive senior campaign. Cadotte took first in the 100-yard butterfly and 100 freestyle.

Cadotte was also in on the two Ralston/Gross relay victories. He joined Luke Hezel, Will Ditter and Jake Ryan to take first in the 200 medley relay and grouped up with Dillon Cowden, Nick Budzinski and Zack Linderman to win the 200 freestyle relay.

The third relay team (Budzinski, Ditter, Hezel, Linderman) finished runner-up in the 400 freestyle relay.

Ditter and Hezel added individual victories in the meet with Ditter winning the 200 individual medley and Hezel the 100 backstroke. Hezel added a second place finish in the 200 freestyle and Ditter took third in the 100 breaststroke.

Jake Ryan notched a pair of runner-up finishes, taking second in the 50 and 500 freestyle races.

Dan Mulder and Budzinski each picked up finishes of third and fourth in freestyle races. Mulder took third in the 200 and fourth in the 500, while Budzinski took third in 50 and fourth in the 100.

Ryan McAleer, Cowden and Patrick Kelly all finished with a pair of top-five finishes in the meet with Joshua Morgera and Linderman each adding one.

The boys divers continued their dominate season Friday by placing three in the top four.

Joey Weber added another win to his resume with a final score of 541.10. Teammates Collin Plath and Gabe McAndrews took second and fourth, respectively.

The Ralston/Gross girls divers notched two top-five performers. Becca Blair took third and Maya Shiroyama finished fifth.

Monica Blake and Gina LeMense provided the only event victories for the Ralston/Gross girls. Blake took top honors in the 200 individual medley along with a runner-up finish in the 500 freestyle. LeMense won the the 100 breaststroke and placed second in the 200 IM behind Blake.

Josie Linhart had the next best finish by taking second in the 100 freestyle. Lauren Gillen and Sammy Mora added finishes of third with Gillen placing third in the 100 butterfly and Mora in the 100 breaststroke. Gillen added a fourth in the 500 freestyle and Mora also took fifth in the 200 IM.

Anna Flairty added two fourths (200 freestyle and 100 backstroke) and Ashley Black took fourth in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 100 freestyle. Shasha Runyon took fifth in the 100 backstroke.

All three girls relay teams finished second in the RCC Meet. Black, Blake, Gillen, Linhart and LeMense provided runner-ups in the 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay.

Rebecca Ackerman, Flairty, LeMense and Natalie Lundak took second in the 200 freestyle relay.
