Frankman and Frankman key Papio shutout

BJ Frankman provided the offense and Nate Frankman the defense in Papillion-La Vista's 1-0 upset of defending state champion Omaha South Friday.

BJ Frankman scored the game's lone goal and Nate Frankman turned away 13 shots on goal to preserve the shutout of the fourth-ranked Packers.

It was a rebound victory for the 2-2 Monarchs, who dropped a 5-3 verdict to Creighton Prep earlier in the week. Thalles Silva-Santos had two goals in the loss while Tyler Krajewski added the other tally.

In other matches from the week:

Gretna 2, Papillion-La Vista South 1 - Class B No. 1 Gretna handed the Titans their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon.

Jacob Ridpath and Jeremiah Landanger provided the offense for the Dragons as Austin Obermayer earned five saves in goal.

Joey McCain notched the lone goal for the Titans (4-1).

It was part of a 3-0 week for the Dragons (4-2) who also defeated Norris 3-1 and Elkhorn 3-0.

Jacob Ridpath, Ben Karloff and Mark Burns scored against Norris while Travis Hurd, Cody Ortlieb and Landanger each found the back of the net against Elkhorn. Obermeyer had six saves in the shutout.

Papio South 2, Millard North 0 - Mason Becker and Kaleb Ethington each had goals in the Titan victory.

Cullen Fisch recorded three saves in the shutout.

Papio South 1, Bellevue West 0 - Fisch and Cole Lempke notched three saves apiece in combining for the shutout.

Josh Pressler's first period goal off a Josh Jackson assist accounted for all the offense.

Ralston 5, Beatrice 0 - Diego Gutierrez scored four goals in a match for the second time this season, giving him 10 goals for the season.

Odimar Perez had the other Ram goal as Mike O'Brien earned the shutout in goal.

Ralston 2, Skutt 1 - Gutierrez's goal in the first overtime was the difference as the Rams edged their River Cities Conference rivals.

Gutierrez also had an assist while Ty Thiesen added a goal and an assist for the 4-1 Rams.

Bellevue East 3, Benson 2 - Noah Bishop, Nathan Milos and Danny Whitfield each had goals as the Chieftains edged the Bunnies.

Bellevue East 4, Gross 0 - East picked up its second win of the week Thursday at the Kroc Center.

Whitfield and Bishop tallied two goals apiece while Logan Hoefer handed out two assists. Daniel McCollum turned away four shots to gain the shutout in goal.

Bennington 3, Gross 1 - Jacob Herren had Gross' only goal in the setback.

Col. Lakeview 3, Platteview 1 - Chandler Briggs had Platteview's only goal in the setback.
