Bellevue East went 4-1 to place second at its own Chieftain Dual Tournament Saturday afternoon.
East posted wins over Lincoln Northeast (52-18); Bellevue West (40-31); Westside (38-31) and Lincoln High (53-23) while dropping its lone dual decision to North Platte (54-22).
“With the young group we have, I was very proud of our kids and how they battled,” East coach Todd Porter said.
Bellevue West finished 1-4 on the day to place fifth. Along with its loss to East, the Thunderbirds also fell to Lincoln High (39-36); North Platte (47-18) and Westside (48-33) while topping Lincoln Northeast (44-34) for its lone win.
Johnny Porter continued his early-season domination for the Chieftains with his second unbeaten weekend, producing two pins and two technical falls to take first at 160 pounds.
He was East's only individual champion, but five others earned top three finishes. Jake Wild was a runner-up at 285, as was Ben Hoffman at 138 and Oscar Baird at 106. Nick Schroeder finished third at 170 as did Jacob Packard at 195.
West had two individual champions for the day. Jake Garner cruised through an unbeaten showing at 145 while Nigel Moss did the same at 195. Ryan Smales took second at 120, Dillan DeRosier was third at 138 and Colten McCauley was third at 152.
