Bellevue Public Schools is accepting names of those interested in joining the school board.
Alicia Richards will step down as a member of the Bellevue Board of Education effective May 28, and the board will appoint someone to fill the remainder of her term.
The vacancy for her seat is open to registered voters living anywhere in the school district, spokeswoman Amanda Oliver said.
The district is asking those interested to fill out a questionnaire before being interviewed by the school board.
Those interested should visit bellevuepublicschools.com and follow the link to the application form.
Applicants are asked to upload a resume and respond to questions about why they want to be a board member, their service and commitment to the school district and community and any skills or experiences they would bring to the board.
Forms can also be picked up in person at the Welcome Center, 1600 Highway 370, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Submissions must be made by Tuesday, which provides the district with sufficient time to include the applications on its June 3 meeting agenda.
A decision could be made as soon as June 3. Special meetings are tentatively scheduled for June 11 with another meeting on June 18 if time is needed for further deliberation. The school board has indicated it wants to swear in whomever is appointed during its July 8 meeting.
Anyone with questions should contact the district at email@example.com or 402-293-4000.
