State Sen. Scott Price has officially resigned his seat in the Nebraska Legislature.
Anyone interested in applying to represent Nebraska's 3rd District can apply through the close of business Nov. 22 with Gov. Dave Heineman's office.
Price's resignation is effective Nov. 1. His resignation letter was dated Oct. 18, but not submitted until Oct. 21.
“It has truly been an honor and privilege to serve the people of the 3rd Legislative District and the State of Nebraska,” Price wrote in the three-sentence letter.
Eligible applicants for the seat must live within the 3rd District, which roughly encompasses the area north of Capehart Road between 25th and 60th streets as well as the area between Highway 370 and Platteview Road between 60th and 84th streets.
Heineman may choose to seek out qualified candidates.
Whoever is appointed would serve until Jan. 6, 2015. The seat would be up for an election for a two-year term in November 2014.
