The Huskers, after declaring a clean slate two weeks ago at the start of a "three-game season," appear to have meshed in November. Bowl eligible and within reach of a nine-win year, NU looks poised to play its best football at the end of the season. As practice resumed Tuesday and Nebraska pointed its attention to the Nov. 28 regular-season finale against Colorado, several Huskers said the good vibe around Memorial Stadium could carry through next month and set a foundation for the program's future.

Ndamukong Suh knows, understands and wants what head coach Bo Pelini is asking from his Nebraska football team. High expectations? The higher the better, said the Husker nose tackle. Pelini hasn't showed the smallest sign of being comfortable with what has happened in his first season at NU. Four losses — and two by large margins — make that understandable, but Suh said his high standards have trickled down to a team that is "going to critique ourselves hard."

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini doesn't want the bye week swallowing up any sense of urgency from a group of players that still hasn't reached its potential yet. The Huskers, who blew out Kansas State 56-28 on Saturday for their second straight win, won't play again until Nov. 28, a break that Pelini doesn't want to look back on with any feelings of regret.
The date was 10 years ago today. The stakes: Not much other than pride for Nebraska, which had lost twice in the previous five weeks to equal its total over the prior 56 games. For Kansas State, it meant everything after 30 years of frustration against NU and a dominant nine-game start to the season that served only as a prelude to Nov. 14, 1998. The Huskers and Wildcats get together again Saturday in Manhattan, Kan., one day after the 10-year anniversary of perhaps the most memorable meeting in their 92-game series.
