More deer meat could be headed to food pantries

WASHINGTON — Nebraska food pantries say deer meat donated by hunters flies off their shelves.
The Mid-Nebraska Food Bank in Kearney recently picked up more than 900 pounds of ground venison from a processor in Amherst — and the meat was gone within a couple of hours, said food bank coordinator Rae Lynn Johnson.
