Cougar hunt persists, but Ernie Chambers vows to stay on the offensive
After two hours of debate Wednesday, state lawmakers failed to override Gov. Dave Heineman's veto of a mountain lion hunting ban on a 24-21 vote.

LINCOLN — Two lions of the State Capitol clashed over a bill outlawing cougar hunting Wednesday, and Gov. Dave Heineman came out the victor.
Omaha Sen. Ernie Chambers failed to capture the 30 votes he needed to override the governor's veto of the repeal of mountain lion hunting season. The vote on Chambers' override motion was 24-21.
