Nebraska over the past few years has made some progress toward improving the state’s flawed system of appointing and overseeing legal guardians for vulnerable senior citizens and the disabled.
The courts still are working to improve, but background checks, bond insurance and quicker cataloging of the assets of people under the care of legal guardians now are commonplace.
