The author, of Omaha, has lived in the city since 2003 and earlier this year was a candidate for the Omaha City Council, District 1.
At the Omaha City Council meeting on Tuesday, Councilman Franklin Thompson began the long overdue process of addressing the elected representation needs of the Sanitation and Improvement Districts (SIDs) and the surrounding areas within three miles of Omaha.
