Lagoon cleanup: The Paxton Boulevard Project team will sponsor Saturday's cleanup of the Fontenelle Park Lagoon. Volunteers will meet at the parking lot east of the lagoon beginning at 8:30 a.m. and work until 10:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to help should wear closed shoes and appropriate cleanup clothes. Bags and gloves will be provided. Fontenelle Park is at 4405 Fontenelle Blvd.
Winterizing: Help is needed for the 9 a.m. to noon Saturday workday to winterize the historic transitional building associated with the Otoe-Missouria Indian Reservation in Barneston, Neb., south of Beatrice near the Kansas border. All interested persons are welcome. Bring your own hammer and broom. The workday is designed to assess the site plus cleaning, securing loose siding and covering holes. After the workday, participants are invited to a Dutch-treat lunch at the Subway in Wymore, Neb. The building is one of the few physical links to the story of the reservation. A newly formed nonprofit, the Otoe-Missouria Home Place at Barneston, has taken on care of the building. To help clean or to learn more, contact Lori McAlister at 402-802-2099 or email@example.com.
