Trucker gets maximum sentence in fatal Potter crash

SIDNEY, Neb. — An Illinois man convicted of killing a Maryland family in an September 2012 crash on Interstate 80 outside of Potter has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub said Wednesday that Cheyenne County Judge Derek Weimer sentenced Josef Slezak, 37, of Rivergrove, Ill., to 60 months in prison on four counts of motor vehicle homicide, a Class III A felony, and 20 to 60 months in prison on a charge of motor vehicle homicide of an unborn child by driving recklessly, a Class IV felony.
