Tax pop, ethanol, bottled water to pay for Nebraska water projects, task force suggests

LINCOLN — Nebraskans would pay a little more at the soda fountain and fuel pump to help generate $50million annually for long-term water projects, according to a proposal from a statewide task force.

The 34-member Water Funding Task Force says the state needs nearly $1 billion in projects to meet future demands for drinking water, crop irrigation, flood control, interstate water compacts and wildlife.
