LINCOLN — A proposal to outlaw sales of novelty lighters in Nebraska smoldered Wednesday in the Legislature.
Sen. Les Seiler of Hastings said he introduced the bill to keep a potential fire hazard out of the hands of children. The ban would apply to lighters shaped like cartoon characters, guns, cars or similar items with flashing lights and musical notes.
