FREMONT, Neb. — Construction of the new four-lane bridge over the Platte River on U.S. Highway 77 south of Fremont is almost complete.

To celebrate, Gov. Dave Heineman, and officials from Fremont and Dodge and Saunders Counties rode across the bridge in a shiny black convertible following a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday. They were followed by a procession of multicolored cars and trucks from the 1950s, representing the transition from old to new.
