Republicans Johanns, Fortenberry joined Democrat Nelson in voting for fiscal cliff bill
Sen. Mike Johanns, left, Rep. Jeff Fortenberry and Sen. Ben Nelson voted "aye" on the bill to avert the fiscal cliff. “In the end, this was a tax policy bill,” said Johanns in a press release. “And I supported it because it protected 99 percent of Nebraskans and Americans from the largest tax hike in our nation's history.”

The fiscal-compromise bill, with its tax increase on wealthier Americans, may not have been perfect, but it saved most Americans from a steep income tax increase in 2013, said two Nebraska Republicans who voted for the measure.
Sen. Mike Johanns and Rep. Jeff Fortenberry were the only members of Congress serving Nebraska and western Iowa to vote “aye” on the proposal. That includes both Iowa senators.
