The Omaha Public Schools handed out their first-ever OPS Excellence Awards on Monday, honoring six principals whose schools tallied big gains on the state achievement test last year.
The awards, which are to become an annual event, celebrated the work of principals whose schools' test scores on the Nebraska State Assessments test jumped 5 percent or more in three testing categories during the 2012-2013 school year.
