The cuts planned by Chancellor Harvey Perlman are intended to fix a shortfall of about 1 percent of the university's $407.5 million annual operating budget.

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents has hired a Boston-based firm to lead the search for its next president.
The board considered proposals from 11 search firms before choosing Isaacson, Miller, according to a press release. The executive search firm will be seeking a replacement for President J.B. Milliken, who is leaving NU to be chancellor at the City University of New York next month.
