The surge of Colorado floodwater flowing down the Platte River reached Grand Island Wednesday. From that point eastward, it is not expected to cause problems.
James Meyer, meteorologist-in-charge for the weather service office that serves the Omaha-Lincoln areas, said the flooding is diminishing as the drought-parched riverbed and adjacent land soak up the water.
