The long-term outlook calls for colder than normal weather into the final week of the month for much of the U.S.
With the cold centered roughly over Iowa, the odds are highest that the Hawkeye state will be among those areas to see below-average temperatures. Eastern Nebraska is on the edge of the area with the greatest probability of cooler-than-average temperatures.
