This week's historic May snow followed the classic pattern of rare midspring snows — along a tightly defined line where atmospheric conditions were just right.
The Wednesday and Thursday snow traveled a northeasterly path, from southeast Nebraska toward Duluth, Minn. The heaviest amounts fell in north-central Iowa and in Minnesota.
