Nancy's Almanac, June 19, 2013: Winds were so strong they knocked semis off Interstate
Dean Cosgrove, a professional storm chaser from Curtis, Neb., captured this image of a supercell thunderstorm moving through western Cherry County on Sunday. The storm spawned a tornado, according to a report to the National Weather Service. No damage was reported from the tornado, but the storm did cause wind and hail damage.

Storms have shoved at least four semis off Interstate 80 in Nebraska in the past week — testimony to the power of straight-line winds.
About 7 p.m. Sunday, a strong south wind knocked a semi from the highway just east of Lexington, according to reports to the National Weather Service.
