Every school child learns of Meriwether Lewis, William Clark and their historic exploration of the Louisiana Purchase from 1804 to 1806. Their journals provide a fascinating look at the landscape and life of the western United States pre-European settlement.
Lesser known, but still consequential in the ultimate conquest of the west, was a trip made less than 10 years later by explorer and fur trader Robert Stuart.
