MECA nearly doubles its profit
Among the major events at Omaha's CenturyLink Center in the last fiscal year were the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials. The center is receiving several major upgrades, among them a new scoreboard and revamped concession stands.

Big sporting events, from figure skating to volleyball, helped boost profits for the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority in the last fiscal year.
The organization said Tuesday that it recorded a profit of just under $2 million in the fiscal year that ended June 30.
