Iowa agency officials still mum on secret settlements

DES MOINES (AP) — Two Iowa officials declined again Thursday to answer questions from legislators investigating the use of state money to pay former workers for silence, and a spokesman for the agency said they had other commitments.

For the second consecutive day, the workers with the Iowa Department of Administrative Services refused to show up for a meeting of the Senate Oversight Committee, said Chairwoman Janet Petersen, D-Des Moines.
