LINCOLN — A national effort to elect the president by popular vote is gaining steam in Nebraska, but the idea has drawn opposition from a couple of powerful Republicans.
Gov. Dave Heineman and Secretary of State John Gale have written opinion pieces opposing a bill aimed at changing the way the president is elected.
