GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — A Grand Island man apologized for a string of burglaries and thefts — blaming the crimes on his drug addiction — before he was sentenced on Tuesday to a term of 20 to 40 years in prison.

Richard A. Jarman Jr., 25, was sentenced Tuesday in Hall County District Court on six charges of burglary and six other charges, including operating a vehicle to avoid arrest, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a handgun and two counts of possession of a knife by a prohibited person, and possession of methamphetamine. All the sentences will be served at the same time.
