Quilts of Valor: Quilts from the Bluffs, a quilting ministry, and West Pottawattamie County 4-H youths pieced tops for Quilts of Valor, a program that gives homemade quilts to military veterans. The youths pieced four quilt tops for their citizenship service project. The 4-Hers joined their 42 blocks and added two borders before professional machine quilters donated their work. A label was sewn on the back of each quilt containing the veteran’s name and the date the quilt was presented, plus the names of those who did the piecing and quilting. Quilts from the Bluffs completed six quilts. Ten local veterans recently received the 4-H and ministry quilts at a ceremony at First Christian Church in Council Bluffs.
