50 people participated in the 2013 Over the Edge event sponsored by Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society at its Farnam Street headquarters, officials said. The cost for the 400-foot rappel from the roof of the Woodmen Tower to the fifth-floor landing zone was $1,000 per participant or $2,500 for teams of three. To get comfortable with the equipment, participants received training from pros and rappelled from a lesser height before their big rappel down the 30-story high-rise. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Boy Scouts of America.
