Fischer meets with White House aides on military sex assaults

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., was among Capitol Hill lawmakers who met Thursday in the West Wing with top White House aides about the continuing plague of sexual assaults in the military.
The issue has rocketed to new prominence in the wake of various scandals and the release this week of a Pentagon report estimating that up to 26,000 military members may have been sexually assaulted last year.
