Former NFL great Emmitt Smith will be the speaker at this year's D.J.'s Hero Luncheon, an event that honors seven local teenagers and serves as a fundraiser for the Salvation Army in Omaha.
Smith, who started his football playing days with the Salvation Army in Florida, is the NFL's all-time leading rusher, a three-time Super Bowl champion and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He also was a “Dancing With the Stars” winner in the 2006 season.
