Downtown aglow with cheer after Mayor Stothert flips on holiday lights

Oh, Christmas trees.
The Holiday Lights Festival officially kicked off Thursday at the Gene Leahy Mall. Thousands flocked downtown to listen to holiday music and watch as Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert flipped the switch to set aglow the thousands and thousands of lights decorating trees up and down the blocks-long mall.
