Dodge Street resurfacing is ahead of schedule
The first morning of a major resurfacing project on Omaha's main drag, Sept. 16, went relatively smoothly. The usual heavy morning commute on eastbound Dodge Street into downtown apparently disappeared Monday as Dodge from 29th to 52nd Streets went down from five lanes to two. Resurfacing work on Dodge Street in midtown Omaha is moving more quickly than expected.
Mayor Jean Stothert said Thursday that the contractor expects to have all of the lanes involved in the project reopened by Oct. 14. That's about four weeks ahead of the city's original estimate of eight weeks.
