Detective testifies that domestic assault, melee preceded March homicide

A domestic assault quickly escalated into a melee and then a fatal shooting at an after-hours party last month, an Omaha homicide detective testified Wednesday.
Officer Sherry King detailed the events that led up to the March 7 death of Brandon Samuels, 21, to a packed Douglas County Court room. King testified that several witnesses picked Laron M. Jones, 23, out of a photo lineup as the man who shot Samuels about 2:45 a.m. at 6919 N. 24th St.
