City gives MECA board ultimatum: Reverse vote to extend terms or risk end of contract

A day after MECA board members voted to give themselves longer terms, the City of Omaha gave the organization an ultimatum: Reverse the decision or risk the termination of your contract with the city.
City Attorney Paul Kratz said Wednesday that the board's 3-2 vote amounted to a violation of both state law and the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority's contract with the city.
